We are saddened to report that Professor Edward Steers of the London Metropolitan University has passed away. Edward was a major figure in glow discharge spectrometry. He was widely respected and admired for his keen scientific insight and encyclopaedic knowledge, and he was universally loved as a genuine and wonderful individual. While this is indeed sad news, let us remember that Edward reached a fine age and worked over 60 years on a topic that he loved.
A special session was held at the 2015 SciX conference in Providence, Rhode Island to recognise the years over which Professor Edward Steers has contributed to Glow Discharge Spectroscopy. More memories of this event can be found by clicking here
Welcome to the new site for the European Working group for Glow Discharge Spectroscopy, known in this world of acronyms as EW-GDS.
The site recounts the history of the group and also details any events that will take place in the near future. This is an exciting time for Glow Discharge Spectroscopy, as evidenced by attendance figures at the recent dedicated symposia.
If you have any ideas for inclusion in this site then please take the time to email the webmaster with your comments.
Please accept our apologies if some of the links in this site do not function correctly, a major rehaul is taking place !!!
EW-GDS is pleased to announce that the dates have been finalised for the 4th International Glow Discharge Spectroscopy Symposium. It will be held in Berlin, Germany in April 2018. Please look for details as they are posted on our forthcoming events page.
